Debriefing: October 2010 – Unexpected Sunshine Edition

It’s not every year in Portland that you get to wake up the day before Halloween to blue skies and warm sunshine. Of course, by “wake up” I mean wait until nine when the sun finally comes out after a hot cup of cocoa. Of course, you won’t catch me complaining.

Maybe this global warming business isn’t so bad after all. Have a happy Halloween!

This is the monthly debriefing. Every new month we’ll look back at what’s happened around Riskology.co. If you’ve missed anything, this is great place to catch up.

From the Blog

October has been my favorite month yet. Riskology.co is just five months old and I feel like there’s a really amazing community built around it already. I’m incredibly grateful every day for my readers.

In October, I explained why every choice is a life or death decision, we heard the voice of the people of Riskology.co, and I revealed the one investment that you can never lose.

We also looked at why you should stand on a corner and sing, I asked the all important question: “Why?” and talked about how to get a year of experience in only 6 months.

Finally, I went over the fastest way to cure a fear (while jumping out of an airplane), and also remarked on the fact that fear is always worse than reality.

Incoming!

I’ve been working away for you guys on my next big project. It’s (tentatively) called Guerrilla Influence Formula, and it’s a comprehensive guide to building your influence online and getting people to pay attention to the great work you’re doing (because you deserve it).

Expect to see more details about that this month as well as the big mountain climbing/marathon running expedition in Africa and Europe that I just booked for next summer.

Here’s a taste of what else you’ll see this month:

  • The reason why nice guys don’t finish last (as long they’re running the right race)
  • A comprehensive guide to do-it-yourself living (exclusively for riskologists)
  • A step by step how-to manual for launching a business with absolutely no risk (just add water)

How You Can Get Involved

I feel so stinkin’ lucky just to be able to write at Riskology.co for you, and even more lucky that a lot of you have written in wondering how you can help spread the word. So thanks!

Here are the best ways to make AR an even better place for even more people:

  • Leave a comment on an article that you have an opinion about. I try to ask a question for you to answer at the end of each piece because I firmly believe that you can learn more from a blog’s readers than you can from the writer.
  • Sign up for email updates to get my 5 Risks That Made History email series or subscribe via RSS so that you don’t miss an article that could help you or someone you know.
  • Share an article with your friends on Twitter, Facebook or any other site you hang out at. If you use a bookmarking site like StumbleUpon or Digg, submit any article you like there.

Or, of course, you could do whatever else you want to spread the message. There are no rules because that’s kind of the whole point around here.

Over and out,
