My students love the Connect + Lead course. Here's what they've said it about it:

The challenge I regularly face at work is that I need to be interacting with donors to do my job well, but I hate manufacturing interactions. If it doesn't happen organically, I don't care to do it.

Connect + Lead helped me understand different personality types and how to adjust my communication for them. This has helped me look at connection-building in a new way. I don't like connection "strategies and tactics" because they feel manipulative, and Connect + Lead helped me see that adjusting my communication style is actually a gift to others that makes connection-building easier.

I'm more self aware now and I've built sustainable changes that make people feel more connected to me.

Before I took Connect + Lead, I really struggled to contribute to conversations in my office. Communicating with my superior was hard because I was always nervous about how I was coming across, which probably made it worse!

I've learned a lot from this course that has helped me become more confident in talking to people at work. I understand more about why different people have different personalities and how to communicate with them to build better relationships.

The #1 thing I got from the course, though, is learning exactly who I am and what I need to do in order to climb the business ladder.

I have a hard time selling myself because I was brought up to be modest.

The Connect + Lead course had lots of interesting lessons and challenges for me to try that brought me out of my shell. The lessons on mastering small talk, doing informational interviews, and leveraging events without burning out were my favorites. And the worksheets helped me a lot with planning how to use my new knowledge.

I’m very competent in my job, but one of my biggest fears is being judged incompetent because I’m introverted and don’t always make the effort to show off my successes. I also manage 10 people in 5 different locations and struggle to find the motivation to check-in with them regularly.

Connect + Lead has given me a variety of new career tools to use to build stronger connections, but the #1 benefit is that I don’t feel helpless when it comes to being successful at work. I feel stronger.

And the lesson on “How to Complain at Work” came at the perfect time for me. I was in a big disagreement with my boss, and that lesson helped me address it in a more mature way and gain more respect.

Connect + Lead has made me more aware of the many types of personalities in my office (and how to deal with them). It’s also helped me think through how I’m positioning myself in my career and being more proactive about how I present myself.

I’d never considered presenting to small groups, so the lesson on getting simple speaking gigs was really helpful. I’m definitely planning to do that now.

I have a long work history and had already picked up some of the lessons in this course through experience, but I still learned a lot and found some great ways to build better work connections that will grow my career.

I’m probably a “non-traditional student” for Connect + Lead. I took the course because I have a day job, but I want to be a better leader and start my own business.

I enjoyed taking the course, but the real benefit for me was the feeling of “permission” I gained to be a leader as a quiet person. It gave me a road map for making my way forward and believing in myself.

I’ve already come a long way in small talk, eye contact, and tone of voice. That will be useful no matter what line of work I’m in.

I hate feeling like I'm selling myself, bragging, or self-promoting, so I'm loath to say good things about myself (even if they're true). And I'm often not quite sure how to approach conversations, especially with people in positions of power, in a way that properly showcases my strengths.

Connect + Lead helped me a lot with this. It gave me concrete ideas to apply, guidelines for how to apply them, inspiration to actually implement what I learned, and plenty of ideas to supplement other areas of my life.

I have a hard time asking for favors or help because I feel like I need to prove I can do whatever is asked of me. My competence and thoroughness have been noticed and rewarded in several different positions, but it also makes me feel like if I ever misstep then I will forever more be seen as incompetent.

Like a true introvert, I also hate having to prove myself verbally; I want to be able to demonstrate that I can do something instead of having to convince someone I can because that persuasion comes with a manipulative feeling.

As I went through the course, I found lots of lessons that directly addressed these things and solutions I can actually use.

I loved the first module with all the personality assessment. Learning those things makes me feel capable of understanding myself and other people at a deeper level and meeting people where they are.

Learning how to leverage my personality traits was my favorite.

I also really enjoyed the lesson about how to complain at work because it's SO easy to do that wrong, and the content was really approachable.

Learning new ways to manage my social calendar as an introvert was great, and so were the two lessons on how to write effective emails that get replies (there was one about emailing important people and one for how set up informational interviews). They were so straightforward and useful.

All in all, I feel much more prepared to take on the next step of my job search. I just finished a contract, and I have a few important decisions to make about next steps. Having this course to refer back to is so useful.

I enrolled in Connect + Lead because I was not getting the recognition I thought I deserved for the quality of work that I do. I suspected it was because I wasn’t leveraging my connections as well I could be. I wanted my connections to support my plans at work and help me advance.

I can say that the course definitely helped me with this. I was already familiar with some of the strategies in the curriculum, but I learned many ways to make small changes to the things I am already doing in order to get better results and make stronger connections.

I’ve definitely gained insights and refined a number of skills that are helping me meet and connect with people. I also have a greater sense of awareness of myself and others and a roadmap for many different things to move my career ahead.

I took Connect + Lead and now I feel like a Human Hacker! :P

On a serious note, the course gave me tools and concrete ideas for how to implement solid connection strategies and an overall understanding of my role and the possibilities I have in my career and my life.

It was great because my biggest challenge is that I’m a remote employee and also work the night shift, so I’m isolated from my colleagues and it’s been hard to relate to them and build connections.

I really enjoyed many of the lessons like Mastering the Informational Interview, Building the Habit of Connection, and the ones on how to email people and actually get replies.

The lesson on being heard in meetings as an introvert was also great. I’m waiting for my next team meeting so I can put it into action!

I used to hate small talk. Then I took the Connect + Lead course, and… I actually like it now. I didn’t even know that was possible. As an introvert, I think that says a lot.

I learned a lot from this course, but the 3 lessons that were best for me were Mastering the Informational Interview, Get Simple Speaking Gigs, and How to Email Important People.

I think those lessons will be the most useful moving on in my professional life to where I want to be: outside an office, and owning a business.

Also, you have made me realise the importance of Small Talk, which I suspected, but I really do not enjoy the Small Talk, at least not on a regular basis. I see now that it is crucial to establish trust, which is an essential part of developing relationships and being liked in the workplace (or in other contexts). As such, it is not so bad, and you give tips on how to do it.

I am happy I will retain access to the course so I can come back to it when I've enhanced one aspect of relationship building in my professional (business) life or want to revise some tips. I plan to do as you advise, which is to implement one at a time.

Before taking the course, my biggest struggle as an introvert at work was being understood by my coworkers. Connect + Lead has made me more aware of my own personality and how I can build stronger relationships.

I work for a multinational corporation, and have struggled to understand the cultural differences around what it takes to move up in my organization.

The big benefit I saw from Connect + Lead was learning how to better read people's emotions. This was entirely new to me and made me realize there is a lot more to body language that I didn't know before.

I also learned how to lead better meetings by not trying to do everything myself. It's nice to know how to delegate tasks and make my life easier.

Finally, the lesson about leveraging events was really helpful because I often try to plan events for my work and I learned some important things about how to make them more effective.

I feel like I actually have options to navigate my career now.

A big problem I’ve had at work is having the confidence to try to stand out and ask for more when there are others in line with more seniority than me. Connect + Lead helped me see how I can build connections with the people at my job who can help grow my career in a way that makes the business better for everyone.

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this course; it was fantastic and useful – I’m using things learned from it already.

Like most introverts, I have an eye for detail and prefer to think things through. I think that’s a positive trait, but I’m not always as confident as I could be because I may not know everything and may look silly.

I also struggle to articulate my arguments well on the spot, but I can go away and write it down with ease!

This was a big problem for me because I have a few extremely difficult colleagues that have been a struggle to work with. Communicating effectively with them is really hard, and it was holding us back.

Thanks to Connect + Lead, I feel like I understand better what makes them tick—and how I can deal with them—so we can move forward together.

There were a number of lessons that helped me, but the big benefit is that I gained some really useful insight and new strategies to implement with my coworkers that are going to make my life easier and help us succeed as a team so I can grow my career.

Thank you for developing this fantastic course.

One of the biggest struggles I face as an introvert is feeling drained (and brain dead!) from too much social interaction. By the end of the day, I can't hold a conversation with people anymore because my senses have been overstimulated and they start to shut down.

The Connect + Lead course has helped me so much with this. It has helped me accept myself as an introvert AND a leader while opening my eyes to so much more that I'm capable of.

From what I've learned about assessing personality traits (I've already done this with several coworkers and I understand them much better now) to managing my social calendar and leading meetings, I feel totally reassured that I can be successful at work even if I tend to be easily overstimulated. There are ways I can use my introversion as a strength.

As an introvert AND a highly sensitive person, I reach overwhelm quickly and it takes what feels like forever to recover. One day of being 'on,’ even when I'm careful with my energy management, can take two or three days of quiet to process. It makes social progress feel very slow. I just can’t go out and network with everyone possible. I have to be more choosy.

Connect + Lead definitely helped me with this by giving me strategies to make stronger connections with the most important people instead of trying to network with everyone.

The concrete ‘how-to’ focus made it very applicable. It has increased my confidence not just in navigating work/career relationships, but pretty much any relationships.

If you’re an introvert and an HSP who struggles with networking and managing your energy, this course can help.

Just the process of taking the course made me think about my behaviors and my industry in a really helpful way. I feel a lot more in control of my career and have some practical “next steps” to take.

The lesson about decoding your company culture was particularly good because it made me think about my position at work (current and future) in a fundamentally new way. The lessons were easy to implement with their step-by-step instructions.

As a freelancer, I'm working with new people all the time. That can make it really difficult to establish great connections.

I took Connect + Lead because I wanted to get better at leading the people I work with consistently and building better relationships with them.

The "connect" portion of the course gave me interesting strategies on how to build genuine relationships. The "lead" portion was particularly helpful to me since that's an area I'm not naturally good at, but want to improve in.

I've applied a lot of the "Self-Analysis and Improvement" section already, and I've noticed a difference in how it's helped people see me. It's given me insight into how I carry myself, and I've been surprised that a few simple tweaks can change people's perception of me for the better!

I now have a sense of confidence that I have a roadmap to success.

Before I enrolled in Tyler's course, I didn't realize how important my social skills were to moving up in my career. Now I do, and I have the skills I need to get where I want to go.

When I'm in my zone, I'm actually really good at leading individuals and groups, but I've struggled with the day-to-day interactions that are required to build long-term connections and relationships.

I took the course because I wanted to be able to handle difficult people situations and help people feel appreciated, and it's helped me with that.

It simply feels better to approach work like a leader.

The Connect + Lead course has given me more knowledge to be a better leader.

I have a number of direct reports that I'm responsible for, and I'm a great boss. Where I struggle is when I go up the chain of command—especially in groups. Small talk and other "relationship building" things get difficult.

The self-assessment and improvement lessons were really helpful for identifying some of my blind spots and fixing them. Very useful for my day-to-day work and building connections with my leadership team who I rarely get to see face-to-face.

Connect + Lead has been great for me. I feel energized and ready to forge better connections to get things done at work.

As an introvert, I've spent an inordinate amount of energy struggling to be heard (both literally and figuratively) in work environments where loud, opinionated co-workers are calling the shots.

The course provided hands on, practical advice that suits my personality type, and the worksheets improved my understanding and helped me memorize what I took away from the lessons so that I can actually use them in real life.

The lessons on leading and being heard in meetings were particularly useful for me, and I've already used what I've learned about reading personality traits to get one of my coworkers to commit to a crucial process.
